The story behind the station
Growing up on Long Island, New York, the radio stations of the ’60s and ’70s—WBAB, WNEW, WABC, and WNBC—were the soundtrack of my youth.
Listen to CLIRadio for just 20 minutes and you’ll feel it: the songs, the memories, and the feeling of hearing something you haven’t heard in years.
My name is David D. Doerrier, and radio has been part of my life for decades. I began my broadcasting career in the early 1980s as a weekend DJ at K57 AM while stationed on Guam with the U.S. Air Force.
That experience launched a 12-year radio journey that took me to stations in California, Guam (again), Texas, and Georgia.
It’s not just music. It’s a time machine.
